The 37th edition of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) has announced the members of jury panel for its main competition section.
The jury is comprised of Mohammad-Ali Bashe-Ahangar, Mohammad Bozorgnia, Pouran Derakhshandeh, Mohammad Ehsani, Mahmoud Kalari, Mehrzad Danesh and Rima Raminfar.
Born in 1962, Bashe-Ahangar is an Iranian director and screenwriter with a number of acclaimed movies, including ‘Queen’ which was aired by ifilm.
Born in 1944, Bozorgnia is an Iranian director and producer who has made some popular movies, including ‘The Angelica’ (1988), ‘Storm’ (1996), ‘A Place to Live’ (2004) and ‘Maritime Silk Road’ (2010).
One of his achievements is receiving the Best Director award for his movie ‘The Tanker Wars’ (1993) at Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival.
Born in 1951, Derakhshandeh is an Iranian script writer, producer and director who made her directorial debut with ‘The Relationship’ in 1986.
In 1987, she was nominated for a Crystal Simorgh Best Director award at the Fajr International Film Festival for ‘Little Bird of Happiness’. In 2007, Derakhshandeh won Golden Butterflies for Best Film, Best Director and Best Artistic and Technical Achievement for ‘Forever Young’ (2006) from the 21st Children and Young Adults Film Festival.
Born in 1973, Ehsani is a celebrated Iranian director and documentarian who received several accolades from different global film events around the world.
Born in 1951, Kalari is an Iranian cinematographer, screenwriter, film director and photographer, who has worked with a number of renowned Iranian directors such as Abbas Kiarostami and Asghar Farhadi.
He has a record of receiving four Crystal Simorgh awards from the FFF.
Danesh is an Iranian film critic.
Born in 1971, Raminfar is a popular Iranian actress.
Established in 1982, the FFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Since its establishment, the festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
The 37th FFF is slated for January 30-February 11, 2019, in Tehran and several other Iranian cities.
